This policy covers the Metadata Cleaner web application at metadatacleaner.app and the Metadata Cleaner Chrome extension. The two products handle data differently, and this policy distinguishes between them.
All file processing — stripping EXIF, GPS, C2PA content credentials, and other metadata from images, videos, and audio — happens entirely inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never uploaded to our servers, never sent to any third party, and never stored by us in any form. When you close the tab or remove a file from the queue, the file is gone from our memory.
The web app asks for your email address before the first download in a browsing session so we can send you product updates, privacy tips, and notifications about new features. The first time you submit a download, a small form asks for your email. After you submit it once, subsequent downloads in the same browser do not ask again.
We collect:
We do not collect your name, IP address, location, browsing history, or any other personal information beyond the email address you voluntarily provide.
Your email is transmitted over HTTPS to our server, which forwards it to GoHighLevel, our CRM and email marketing provider. GoHighLevel stores the email as a contact in our account and sends you the emails we schedule (product updates, privacy tips, occasional promotional messages). We do not sell or rent your email address to third parties. We do not share it with anyone other than GoHighLevel for the purpose of delivering the emails you asked for.
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it removes you from all future email sends. If you want your email address deleted from our records entirely, email dreknows@gmail.com and we will remove it from GoHighLevel within 7 days.
The Chrome extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data. It does not ask for your email, does not send anything to any server, and does not use analytics. The extension processes images entirely on your device and saves the cleaned file to your Downloads folder. The permissions the extension requests are explained below and are used only to make the cleaning feature work.
Neither the web app nor the extension uses cookies, analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or any similar technology. We do not track usage, file counts, errors, or behavior.
If you upgrade to Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your payment card details. Stripe sends us back only the email address associated with the subscription and the subscription status so that Pro features can be unlocked. Your email address stays in GoHighLevel until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Files you process are never retained on our side — they exist only in your own browser during the cleaning session.
You have the right to request access to the data we hold about you (which is just your email address and its signup timestamp), request correction, request deletion, and withdraw your consent at any time by emailing dreknows@gmail.com. We honor deletion requests within 7 days.
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect email addresses from children under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated to existing email subscribers via email.
